Payload offers real time account verification and other account based settings to prevent fraud and unwanted payments. For payments that fail verification or a setting parameter, the following decline reasons will display:
ACH Payment Declines
- General Reject: The account has been deemed ineligible by the sending bank. Please try a different payment method or contact bank for more details.
- Duplicate Attempt: This transaction appears to be a duplicate attempt and has been prevented.
- Exceeded Limit: The amount of the transaction exceeds the allowed limit for this account.
- General Decline: The bank account has been declined by the sending bank, contact the bank for more information.
- Insufficient Balance: The bank account does not have a sufficient balance to complete the payment.
- Payment Stopped: For some reason the payment was stopped. Please try a different payment method or contact bank for more details.
- Invalid Account Number: The account number is invalid. Please ensure you are inputting the correct routing and account number.
- Bank Account Not Supported: The sending bank does not share account data electronically therefore preventing account verification. Payload offers an alternative verification option that will allow these payments - please read 'Enhanced Verification Services' and contact help@payload.co if you'd like to turn this on.
- Suspicious Activity: Through fraud monitoring tools, this transaction has been identified as suspicious.
- Too Many Attempts: Too many payment attempts have been made, please try again later.
Card Payment Declines
- Card Expired: The card has expired.
- Duplicate Attempt: This transaction appears to be a duplicate attempt and has been prevented.
- Exceeded Limit: The amount of the transaction exceeds the allowed limit for this account.
- General Decline: The card has been declined, please contact the issuing bank for more information.
- Insufficient Balance: The bank account does not have a sufficient balance to complete the payment.
- Invalid Card Code: The security code is invalid, please check the number.
- Invalid Zip: The ZIP code does not match the card.
- Suspicious Activity: Through fraud monitoring tools, this transaction has been identified as suspicious.
- Too Many Attempts: Too many payment attempts have been made, please try again later.
- Invalid Address: the billing address does not match the card.
